Melville, New York-based Poly-Pak Industries, a manufacturer of consumer and commercial plastic packaging and municipal signage, has announced a reduction in force.
The reduction will impact 146 employees at its plastic bag manufacturing facility, with separations commencing on May 1, 2025.
The decision was driven by the high cost of doing business on Long Island and the expiration of the company's lease. The location of the new office and manufacturing facility is unknown at this time. It appears that the property will be transformed into a $137.5 million four-story, 299-room, luxury extended-stay hotel.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
