Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Southern Auto Finance Company, a lender specializin in auto financing for first-time buyers, people who want to rebuild their credit, and those with hard to verify income, has announced the closure of its Orlando, Florida loan servicing center. The closure will impact 48 employees who will be laid off between August 16, 2021, and November 30, 2021.

Loan servicng operations will move to the company's headquarters.

According to a company spokesperson, "The move will allow us to bring loan servicing and origination under one roof."

The bank has filed another notice with the State of Florida announcing the closure of its Elite Lender Services subsidiary which provides title insurance and related services to customers. The closure will affect an additional 21 employees.

Jacksonville, Florida-based TIAA Bank, a diversified financial services institution offering banking, mortgages, and investing services, has announced that it will be permanently closing its home lending business unit and laying off approximately 90 employees commencing July 1, 2021. Approximately 200 additional employees will be offered positions at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based PNC National Bank's mortgage servicing operations in Jacksonville, Florida.

It appears that the decision to leave the retail home lending business unit was part of the bank's reorganization plan to focus on originating mortgage loans primarily through the bank's internet platform and other third-party correspondent channels.

Shawnee Mission, Kansas-based Waddell & Reed Financial, an asset management, and financial planning company, whose sale to Sydney, Australia-based Macquarie Asset Management, an investment bank, and financial services company, is pending, has announced a reduction in force that will impact 219 employees located in Overland Park, Kansas commencing April 30, 2021.

Macquarie plans to sell Waddell & Reed's wealth management business to Boston, Massachusetts-based LPL Financial Holdings in mid-2021 for $300 million. While LPL said it expected to offer Waddell employees a position, additional layoffs are expected as the company cherry-picks "investment advisers."
