AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN

Tampa, Florida-based Shriners Hospitals for Children, an iconic network of 22 non-profit medical facilities across North America treating children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate regardless of their ability to pay, has announced the closure of its Tampa, Florida facility.

Shriners Children's Florida, an outpatient-only facility located on the University of South Florida campus, will team with another health care provider to continue services beginning April 1, 2022.

The closure and transition will impact an unspecified number of employees.

According to a facility spokesperson, "Our commitment to caring for children in need of Shriners' specialty care remains unchanged. However, in light of recent changes in the delivery of healthcare services, SHC will no longer be providing clinic services at our Tampa location. This change will allow Shriners to continue and strengthen its core mission of caring for children with pediatric orthopedic conditions while ensuring good stewardship of our charitable resources."

“We feel very deeply for employees that are impacted by this and served us for a long time in an important and powerful way. Operating a clinic that only offered specialty treatment made it challenging to deliver care efficiently. We see this as a step forward. We believe there are local affiliates that can provide that care more efficiently than we can in our current model.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CENTER FOR COVID CONTROL

Rolling Meadows, Illinois-based Center for Covid Control, a pop-up laboratory testing for Covid-19 and its variants, has announced that it will be "winding down" its operations and laying off most of its employees as it continues to battle several local, state, and federal investigations alleging fraud.

Approximately 150 employees are impacted.

According to a company spokesperson, “For the past several weeks, Center for COVID Control has been in communication with a number of regulatory and law enforcement agencies regarding the company’s operations. Federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at the company’s main office as part of what appears to be a similar investigation."

"Although we cannot provide specific comments regarding ongoing investigations, the company intends to fully cooperate with all government inquiries and remains committed to providing the best service possible to our patients.”

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT BAYADA HOME HEALTH CARE

Moorestown, New Jersey-based Bayada Home Health Care, an international nonprofit home health care provider, has announced the closure of four offices located in the Tampa Bay, Florida region.

The closures will impact 682 employees, mostly home health aides, in four locations: Brooksville, Florida, 306 employees; Brandon, Florida, 150 employees, Port Richey, Florida, 144 employees; and Clearwater, Florida, 79 employees.

According to a company statement, "Due to several external forces, we have made the difficult decision to close our locations that provide Medicaid personal care and support services in the state of Florida. This will impact four of our locations, a small percentage of our total BAYADA client base in the state. We will continue to serve clients through our Private Pay Personal Care, Medicare Certified Home Health and Private Duty Nursing Services in Florida. We remain committed to our work in Florida and will continue to grow our presence here across our various lines of business to help our clients live at home with comfort, independence and dignity."
