AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT ECKERD CONNECTS

Clearwater, Florida-based Eckerd Connects, a national non-profit organization that serves children and their families through providing child welfare, juvenile justice, workforce development and behavioral health programs, has announced the loss of two major contracts as the lead agency for child welfare and foster care services in Hillsborough County, Florida.

The company will wind down its Hillsborough operations in Tampa, Florida impacting 176 employees who are scheduled for layoffs on June 30, 2022, when the contract expires. Operations will be assumed by Fort Myers, Florida-based Children's Network of Southwest Florida.

This action comes six months after the nonprofit axed more than 200 foster care jobs in Pinellas and Pasco counties after the Florida Department of Children and Families Secretary announced last year no contract extension following a law enforcement investigation.

Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT NEW YORK CITY HEALTH AND HOSPITALS

New York, New York-based New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, a public benefit corporation operating the largest municipal healthcare system in the United States, has announced a major reduction in force.

The reduction in force will impact 847 employees when the city's initiative for COVID-19 testing and contact tracing ends its universal contact tracing by the end of April 2022. Managerial employees affected by the layoffs will have their employment terminated between May 13, 2022, and May 27, 2022.

According to a company statement, "Due to the reduced need for COVID-19 contact tracing efforts within the City of New York and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation to cease universal COVID-19 contact tracing programs, NYC Health + Hospitals will be permanently separating 874 employees of the Test and Trace Program."
