AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT RE/MAX

Denver, Colorado-based RE/MAX, an international real estate company that operates through a franchise system, has announced several technology-based initiatives including an affiliation with major real estate technology provider Salt Lake City, Utah- based Inside Real Estate.

Insides' kvCORE platform will include agent/team/office websites, lead management, a smart CRM, and automated marketing capabilities for ReMax teams.

Unfortunately, the kvCore solution will replace many of Re/Max's in-house solutions and thus render the technology and personnel redundant. The phased roll-out, continuing into 2013 will impact approximately 120 employees in mostly technology positions or 17% of Re/Max's workforce.

According to a company statement, "The layoffs are the result of the company's shift in strategy to sunset its in-house technology platform in mid-2023 and instead partner with Inside Real Estate, which developed a cloud-based platform called kvCORE for real estate companies."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT HOMELIGHT

San Francisco, California-based HomeLight, an internet-based real estate lead generation and referral company, has announced a major reduction in force.

The reduction in force will impact 140+ employees or 19% of their workforce.

As per a company statement...

"Sadly, we have to share the news that, today, we’re reducing our headcount here at HomeLight.

An important part of bringing our vision of making real estate more simple, certain, and satisfying to life is scaling HomeLight in a financially responsible and sustainable way. Ensuring our runway and capital allows us to continue to operate independently, regardless of the environment or market around us.

To take care of those who are leaving, we looked across severance, healthcare, and job support — and did our best to treat everyone in a compassionate and thoughtful way. We know they’ll move mountains in other organizations, just as they have here at HomeLight.

HomeLight would not be the company it is today without you, just as we, as a team, will not be the same. Your impact will live on as we work tirelessly to make our shared vision of making real estate more simple, certain, and satisfying a reality for all."

New York, New York-based Compass, Inc., a technology-driven residential real estate brokerage specializing in high-end properties, has announced a major reduction in force.

The reduction in force will impact 450 employees, said to be mostly recruiters of independent real estate agents and support staff.

The company's CEO, Robert Reffkin, noted that the decision was driven by rising interest rates, 8.6 percent inflation, and an impending recession, further noting the “economic environment has consistently worsened over these last few months.”

“I have been through three of these economic cycles in my career so far, and I believe that in challenging times, companies that move quickly and decisively emerge stronger and better than those who take half-measures or no action at all,”

"As an innovative residential real estate firm, we empower our agents so they have more time for advising their clients. With the solutions-driven mindset of a startup and the sophistication of a luxury brand, Compass is the future of real estate."
