AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CAREER BUILDER + MONSTER.COM

Chicago, Illinois-based CareerBuilder and Weston, Massachusetts-based Monster, both online employment platforms, have completed their merger and are embarking on a post-merger restructuring.

The restructuring will impact an unknown number of employees.

According to a company statement, “As CareerBuilder + Monster continues to integrate and position the combined company for success, we have taken the difficult decision to restructure the organization, which involves a reduction in the company’s overall workforce.

As is often the case when two organizations join forces, there can be redundancies of roles, requiring companies to evaluate the most efficient operating structure to support its key objectives. This is not a choice that is taken lightly, though was necessary as we continue to work towards our combined commitment to help employers fill critical roles and candidates to find meaningful work. With a refined foundation, CareerBuilder + Monster remains dedicated to powering the workforce of the future.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

The personnel realignment will impact 100 administrative employees.

According to newly appointed President and CEO Staci Thompson, "We worked with people and tried to handle it in the kindest way possible, realizing that these were difficult decisions and people's lives were impacted. As a leadership team, we agonized over every position that was affected and made sure that what we were doing was really in the best interest of the future and the greater good for the organization."
