Chicago, Illinois-based UScellular, a mobile network operator, has announced a major asset sale and reduction in force.

The sale will impact 4,100 employees, including corporate staff, remote workers, and facility support staff.

According to the company...

"United States Cellular Corporation plans to sell all of its wireless operations, customers, and approximately 30% of its licensed spectrum to TMobile. Consistent with these plans, approximately 4, l 00 employees will be pennanently separated from employment with USCC Management Services, at personal locations used by employees working remotely as well as the corporate-owned locations. Employment separations are planned to commence on June 2, 2025 or within fourteen days thereafter.

Slingerlands, New York-based Plug Power, a technology company engaged in the development of hydrogen fuel cell systems, and green hydrogen fuel, has announced a major reduction in force as part of its Project Quantum Leap restructuring initiative, which includes cost containment and the optimization of its operational footprint as it seek to generate a first-time profit.

The reduction in force will impact 299 employees, a third of whom are production technicians, at three local New York facilities in Slingerlands, Latham, and Clifton Park. Separations will occur between May and late June 2025.

A spokesperson for Plug declined to comment further.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Penn Medicine, a major multi-hospital healthcare delivery system, has announced a reduction in force at its Lancaster General Health facility.

The reduction will impact 300 positions.

According to a spokesperson, “Like other health systems across the United States, Penn Medicine is working to ensure a strong financial footing while growing care for more patients across the region amidst continued changes and pressures for the field. The position eliminations will not result in discontinuation of any patient care services or programs."
