City of Industry, California-based Centric Parts, a division of Littleton, Colorado-based APC Automotive Technologies, and a designer, manufacturer, and distributor of aftermarket auto parts has announced that it will be laying off 286 workers at its brake caliper manufacturing facility in Carson, California. The layoffs are scheduled to commence on September 30, 2019, through October 18, 2019. Approximately 100 employees, mostly in research and development, engineering, IT, and marketing will remain at a consolidated Carson plant while some of the company’s caliper manufacturing operations will be transferred to El Paso, Texas.
The decision to transfer operations to Texas appears to be an economic one, with a company spokesperson noting, “Many of our customers are on the East Coast, so this will provide a more central and desirable location. We’re also moving because business costs are very high in California … we’re not unique in that.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
