Indianapolis, Indiana-based, Indianapolis Star, a general circulation morning daily newspaper, has announced that it will close the Pulliam Production Center printing facility on April 9, 2024.
The shutdown will impact 90 printing, production, and packaging employees. The company will outsource its printing operations to its parent, the Gannett Company, the largest newspaper operation in the United States, located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Starting with the paper’s edition on Tuesday, April 9, the Star will begin being printed at a Gannett-owned site in Peoria, Illinois.
According to a company spokesperson, “Our commitment to the Indianapolis community and the greater Central Indiana area is unwavering. The staff at The Indianapolis Star will continue to provide readers with quality, local content that matters most to them, and to connect our valued advertising partners with the customers they want to reach. We deeply appreciate the many years of service our knowledgeable, skilled staff has dedicated to our Indianapolis facility.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
