Saint Louis, Missouri-based Automobile Club of Missouri, a member club affiliated with the American Automobile Association (AAA) national federation and serves members in the entire state of Missouri has announced that it is laying off 130 employees.
Rather than operate its own tow-truck fleet in Saint Louis and Kansas City, Missouri, the company will outsource operations to independent towing companies.
According to a company spokesperson, "On November 6, 2020, we informed about 130 employees, 95 of those in St. Louis, the club will be transitioning to the exclusive use of contract tow operators in St. Louis and Kansas City, and their positions will be eliminated. This transition will take place in phases throughout 2021."
