Standish, Michigan-based Globe Fire Sprinkler Corporation, a major manufacturer of fire protection equipment and systems, including fire sprinkler, has announced that it is going out of business, closing their Standish, Michigan facility, and laying off all of its 154 employees/ Layoffs will be staged starting December 31, 2020 and continue through January 2021.
This is a sad ending to over 100 years of continuous production of Globe sprinklers and valves in Standish.
The business was purchased by Easton, Pennsylvania-based Victaulic, producer of mechanical pipe joining systems in July, 2019. This consolidation was not unexpected as this family-owned was sold to a larger company.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
