FEBRUARY 18, 2021 — CONSOLIDATION: 450 JOBS LOSS IN COLORADO
“Vestas will consolidate blades production to the Windsor Blades factory and repurpose the Brighton Blades site into a North American headquarters for the Global Tooling business, consolidating from six dispersed smaller locations. This entails ending blade production at the Brighton Blades factory, which unfortunately means laying off approximately 280 colleagues. Additionally, Vestas will reduce headcount at the Pueblo Towers factory and Brighton Nacelles factories by a total of approximately 170 colleagues.”

Portland Oregon-based Vestas Blades America, a subsidiary of Aarhus, Denmark-based Vestas Wind Systems A/S, and a manufacturer, seller, installer, and servicer of wind turbines, has announced that it plans to layoff 185 employees located at its Brighton manufacturing facility located in Brighton, Colorado commencing on January 21, 2021.
The decision was driven by production changes in the manufacture of wind turbine blades. The company will stop producing V136 blades due to higher demand for other types of turbine blades.
According to a company spokesperson, “This is a painful decision and it is always difficult to say goodbye to colleagues. In addition to the 60-days advance notice, Vestas will make every effort to support eligible colleagues in transitioning to other opportunities within Vestas.
Vestas Construction and Tooling organization will begin utilizing available space at the Brighton Blades factory.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
