AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT APTAR

Crystal Lake, Illinois-based Aptar Group, a manufacturer of packaging, sealing, and dispensing products, has announced the closure of manufacturing facilities in Stratford, Connecticut and Torrington, Connecticut. The layoffs will impact 290 employees, 59 at the Torrington plant which is scheduled to close by December 31, 2020 and 231 at the Stratford plant which will close by the end of March 2021. Both facilities provided packaging for the company's Beauty + Home Segment.

According to a company spokesperson, "the two Connecticut facilities are closing as the company consolidates some of its manufacturing operations to other facilities in Illinois, New Jersey and Mexico."

From the Q1 SEC earnings call, "Our Beauty + Home segment was negatively impacted by the closing of the travel retail sector during the quarter and the closing of traditional beauty retail settings during March. Reduced demand for hair care and sunscreen products also impacted our results, while increased demand for our dispensing solutions for sanitizers and cleaners was not enough to offset the declines."
