The company plans to lay off 376 workers from its Poway, California (216), and San Diego, California (160) facilities scheduled for June 5, 2023.
Many of the positions involved manufacturing and included composite technicians, machinists, and quality control personnel.
According to a company statement, “These reductions were made to balance resources with business requirements.”

San Diego, California-based General Atomics, a nuclear energy technology company, drone manufacturer, and defense contractor, has announced a layoff of 630 employees.
“General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. can confirm a reduction in force involving 6% of its workforce. This reduction was made to balance resources with customer requirements.”
It is unknown if the early cessation of the purchase of the aging Air Force MQ-9 Reaper drones scheduled for 2021 impacted this particular decision.
