Eindhoven, Netherlands-based Signify, formerly known as Phillips Lighting, a world leader in lighting products, systems, services, and software, plans to cut 700 jobs out of its global workforce. Impacted will be approximately 135 employees at its production facility in Tupelo, Mississippi, begin in April 2021 and be completed by December 2021.
Manufacturing work previously done in Tupelo will transition to facilities in San Marcos, Texas, and Monterrey, Mexico,
According to a company spokesperson, βThe decision has not been taken lightly but is necessary with the ongoing transformation in the lighting industry. Signify will support its affected employees through the transition, and provide resources and training to assist them through this difficult period and set them up for future success.β
