Reston, Virginia-based SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation), a provider of information technology consulting and support services to governments and large corporations, has announced a major reduction in force of 269 employees commencing on April 9, 2021.
The decision was driven by the expiration of a government contract for information technology services support at the Sandia National Laboratories located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The IT support services will be included in a contract awarded to Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Encantado Technical Solutions, a small business mentor-protégé joint venture between mentor Fairfax, Virginia-based ECS, a division of Calabasas, California-based ASGN, and protégé Frederick, Maryland-based Edgewater Federal Solutions.
According to a SAIC spokesperson, "the successor to a contractor tends to keep as many people as they can because thats where the knowledge base is."
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
