Boca Raton, Florida-based Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a national, for-profit cancer treatment network, has announced the closure of two of its major hospitals located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Tulsa, Oklahoma commencing on June 1, 2021.

The Philadelphia hospital will be sold to Temple University Health System in an asset purchase agreement. The sale will impact 365 employees as the facility is closed, reconfigured by Temple, and re-opened as a non-profit Temple facility.

The company also announced the closure of the company's hospital located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 1, 2021, with 400 layoffs. A company spokesperson noted, "CTCA has been working tirelessly to overcome significant patient access and insurance limitations that inexplicably restrict patient care options and prevent patient choice in this market. Our top priorities during this transition will be to provide a seamless transition of our patients’ care and ensure our 400 employees are provided with resources and support as they navigate this difficult time as well.”

Other layoffs include 81 employees located in Zion, Illinois.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
