Hickory, North Carolina-based CommScope, a global telecommunications provider of wired and wireless networks, has announced that it will be closing its Greensboro, North Carolina manufacturing facility for fiber optic cabling, copper cabling, and connectivity solutions on March 1, 2022. However layoffs will commence on June 30, 2021 of the first 50 out of 270 employees.
According to a company statement, "CommScope operates a global network of more than 30 manufacturing sites and distribution centers, three of which are in North Carolina. This network provides flexibility for CommScope to make production changes in response to customer requirements, supply chain capabilities and market conditions. For our supply chain to remain flexible and cost-effective, some products may be transitioned and built in facilities that offer greater efficiencies."
"That’s the basis for our decision to change some operations at our three North Carolina manufacturing sites. CommScope will be investing in our Catawba and Claremont locations to add fiber cable manufacturing capacity there due to rising market demand."
"The Greensboro-based functions and their related job functions will be transferred to various facilities in CommScope’s network, including North Carolina sites in Catawba and Claremont as appropriate."
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
