Waterbury, Connecticut-based Mercury Fuel, a wholesaler/retaier of petroleum and operator of convenience stores, continues its restructuring by following the sale sale of seven of its convenience stores and gas stations with additional sales of assets. The latest sale will impany 112 employees, including 68 cashiers and 14 store managers, who are facing layoffs on September 3, 2021.
Prior to this latest asset divestiture, EG America, a subsidiary of Blackburn, England-based EG Group, an operator of gas stations and fast food outlets, purchased the seven Mercury locations to convert them into Cumberland Farms stores.
