Albany, New York-based Auto/Mate,a division of Irving, Texas-based DealerSocket, and a provider of technology solutions for auto dealers including customer relationship management systems, dealer management systems, inventory management, websites and digital retailing, has announced that it laid off approximately 200 employees across the company.
It appears that the layoffs are a normal and customary business action after mergers and acquisitions. The layoffs come weeks after Westlake, Texas-based Solera Holdings acquired DealerSocket in 2021 who, in turn purchased Auto/Mate in 2020. The acquisition strengthens and broadens DealerSocket's offerings in the automotive space.
Additionally, according to parent company Solera, other layoffs will take place at the company's other recent acquisitions, Omnitracs and DealerSocket, as part of an overall post-aquisition restructuring.
The layoffs were said to have occured in department meetings without warning. Those employees who were not immediately laid off were allegedly give a 90-day window so they could help in a “transition of knowledge” to Omnitracs and DealerSocket sites in India.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
