Quincy, Illinois-based Blessing Health, an integrated health system consisting of, two hospitals, two physician groups, an accredited college of nursing and health sciences, a network of medical specialty businesses, and a charitable foundation, has announced the closure of its 49-bed hospital located in Keokuk, Iowa.
The closure will affect 151 employees. The hospital, acquired by Blessing in March 2021, will close on October 1, 2022, with employees paid through November 4, 2022.
While the hospital has lost money and suffers from consistently low demand for inpatient and emergency services, the facility is in need of multi-million dollar renovations and system upgrades. The property is scheduled to be placed on the market for sale.
