Sidney, Ohio-based Norcold, a leading manufacturer of specialty refrigerators for the truck, marine, and recreational vehicle markets, has announced the closure of two plants, one in Sydney, Ohio, and one in Gettysburg, Ohio.
The closures will impact a total of 358 workers from the two sites.
The decision was driven by a corporate restructuring at Norcold's parent, Ann Arbor, Michigan-based Thetford Corporation, which is transferring all of its United State refrigerator manufacturing to other global company-owned and operated manufacturing facilities."
According to a company spokesperson, “The decision to close the Norcold locations and utilize the company’s global manufacturing capabilities was difficult, but necessary due to the current economic challenges and ongoing labor constraints.
