San Francisco, California-based DoorDash, a technology company operating a pltform to facilitate deliveries from local restaurants, convenience stores, pet stores, grocery stores to the subscriber's door, has announced a reduction in force.
The reduction in force will impact 1,250 corporate employees, or about 6% of its workforce.
According to CEO Tony Xu, “Most of our investments are paying off, and while we’ve always been disciplined in how we have managed our business and operational metrics, we were not as rigorous as we should have been in managing our team growth. That’s on me. As a result, operating expenses grew quickly. The company is seeking to lower its operating costs, but it was unable to bring spending in line without job cuts. This hard reality ultimately led me to make this painful decision to reduce our team size."
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
