Massillon, Ohio-based Shearer's Foods, a manufacturer of snack products including potato chips, tortillas, whole grain chips, cheese curls/puffs, popcorn, pork rinds, rice crisps, wafers, cookies, and both sweet and savory biscuits, has announced that a boiler explosion and fire at the Shearer’s Foods plant in Hermiston, Oregon, has destroyed the facility.
The forced shutdown will result in 400 layoffs.
According to CEO Bill Nictakis, “After assessing the damage, it’s clear that the destruction is too great to quickly rebuild and begin production in the near term. It would take at least 15-18 months to rebuild and restart production."
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
