Lakeland, Florida-based Draken International, pilots for the United States Armed Forces and operates one of the world's largest fleets of privately owned fighter jets providing contract air services to military and defense industry customers, has announced the closure of its facility at Nellis Air Force base in Nevadaa and a major major reduction in force at its Lakeland, Florida headquarters.
The reduction in force will impact 247 employees, including 147 in Nevada and 100 headquarters employees in Florida. The layoffs will include aircraft mechanics, avionics specialists, hydraulics technicians, and support personnel.
The decision was driven when the U.S. Air Force declined to renew Draken International’s ADAIR II contract to provide adversary air services at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. The scheduled separation date for Nevada employees is June 4, 2022. Lakeland employees are scheduled for May 20, 2022.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
