Michigan-based Beaumont Spectrum Health System, a merger between Southfield, Michigan-based Beaumont Health, Michigan’s largest health care system, and Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Spectrum Health, a not-for-profit, integrated, managed care health care organization, have announced a post-merger restructuring with the goal of cost containment.
The restructuring will impact 400 corporate positions across the organization.
According to a spokesperson, "Our health system, like others around the nation, is facing significant financial pressures from historical inflation, rising pharmaceutical and labor costs, COVID-19, expiration of CARES Act funding and reimbursement not proportional with expenses."
"We are grateful for the contributions and years of dedicated service provided by our impacted team members and are working to help them find employment within our health system and elsewhere. We remain deeply committed to caring for our team members and our community."
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
