Carlsbad, California-based Jenny Craig, a weight loss management and nutrition company, has announced a change in its business model from a retail presence to concentrating on e-commerce solutions.
The company plans to close all of its 600 retail weight loss centers, which will impact at least 1,000 employees. The company has instructed staff members to "anticipate that your employment may be impacted and begin to seek other employment."
According to Mandy Dowson, CEO and president of Jenny Craig, "2023 marks the 40th anniversary since Jenny Craig started changing people's lives with her iconic meals and weight loss plans. Now, Jenny Craig is embarking on the next phase of our business to evolve with the changing landscape of today's consumers. Like many other companies, we're currently transitioning from a brick-and-mortar retail business to a customer-friendly, e-commerce-driven model."
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
