FEBRUARY 19, 2024 — 107 EMPLOYEES IN PAINTED POST, NEW YORK
The company has announced the shutdown of one of its production lines at its Erwin facility in Painted Post, New York on May 19, 2024, and will impact 107 employees.
According to a company spokesperson, “The Erwin Plant, in general, helps support automotive emissions control and clean air technology, and the number one thing we would like people to know is that the Erwin Plant is not closing. It will stay open and continue to operate. This one line is just shifting to a different facility. The move will help Corning better leverage its high-volume capabilities and best utilize its manufacturing footprint to continue operating most efficiently,”

Corning, New York-based Corning Incorporated, a specialty glass, ceramics, and related materials and technologies supplier, has confirmed a mass reduction in force in response to lower business prospects in the coming months.
The reduction impacted 1,150 employees.
A company statement noted, “Near-term revenues across our businesses are expected to continue to be lower than previous outlooks. As a result of these macroeconomic challenges, we took the difficult but necessary decision to evaluate our capital and operating costs, which resulted in a limited reduction of our global workforce. We remain confident in our market opportunities and will continue to invest to capture growth across our businesses going forward,"
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
