Kansas City, Missouri-based Signature Psychiatric Hospital, a for-profit behavioral healthcare services provider of acute inpatient and outpatient treatment for adults and seniors, has announced that it will close its two operations in Kansas City, Missouri, and Liberty, Missouri.
The closure will impact 154 employees, including 124 full-time and 30 part-time employees. Layoffs will coincide with the facilities' closure on November 12, 2024.
According to a spokesperson, “Following months of active negotiations, North Kansas City Hospital is reclaiming the space leased by Signature to support their expansion. Without this location — which serves as the administrative hub for both Signature locations — we are unable to maintain operations at Liberty Hospital. We thank our staff for their commitment to delivering quality care to help thousands of patients on their journey toward better health. We appreciate the efforts of community partners to meet the behavioral health needs of the Kansas City region, going forward."
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall; why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
