Murrysville, Pennsylvania-based Philips Respironics, a medical device manufacturer specializing in respiratory devices, has announced a major restructuring following the largest medical device recalls in U.S. history.
The restructuring efforts will impact more than 800 employees, 300 of whom will be laid off, and another 500 will be relocated to facilities in Murrysville and New Kensington, Pennsylvania.
The company plans to leave its Pittsburgh headquarters in the fourth quarter of 2024 and end the manufacturing of breathing machines at two major Western Pennsylvania plants in 2025. Some production will be outsourced to an unnamed third party.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
