AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT OAKLAND ATHLETICS

Oakland, California-based Oakland Athletics, a professional major league baseball team, has announced a major reduction in force prior to its temporary relocation to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California, for the 2025–2027 seasons and prior to its permanent move to Las Vegas.

The reduction in force will impact approximately 50% of their non-baseball staff after the end of the current season.

The personnel realignment will impact 230 employees, including individuals in ticket services, finance, stadium operations, marketing, sales, legal, and community relations. Specifically, 14 employees from the Coliseum offices, 43 employees at the team’s headquarters in Jack London Square, and 176 part-time game-day staff, including ticket-takers and ushers, will be affected.

According to a team spokesperson, “We have had to make the difficult decision to restructure our workforce due to our relocation to Sacramento next year. This was not an easy decision. We want to acknowledge the significant contributions of each employee affected by our staffing adjustments. Their dedication and hard work have been invaluable to our organization, and we are grateful for all they have done.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall; why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
