Pinehurst, North Carolina-based Riley Power Group, a full-service maintenance and capital construction company specializing in mechanical, welding, and electrical services, has announced a reduction in its subcontractor force at the General Dynamics Electric Boat Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
The reduction in force will impact 117 employees, including 48 structural welders, 29 pipefitters, 25 shipfitters, 13 electricians, and 2 press break operators. Layoffs will commence on October 21, 2024.
The company provided specialty welding services, including structural and pipe welding, for Electric Boat’s Naval submarine work out of Quonset Point since 2017.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall; why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
