AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT REX FORGE

Plantsville, Connecticut-based Rex Forge, a contract manufacturer of impression die hot steel forgings, has announced the imminent closure of its facility.

The closure will impact all 103 employees, including the firm's CEO. Layoffs will occur between February 10, 2025, and February 24, 2025.

According to a company statement filed with the State of Connecticut, "On the evening of Wednesday, January 29, and with no advance notice or implication, Rex Forge was notified by Dana Corporation, its sole customer, that it has exercised its right to terminate its contract with Rex Forge to supply forgings to Dana. The termination of the contract was unexpected and unforeseen. Rex Forge had every reason to believe and expect that future business would continue from the daily actions and communications with Dana. It was shocking to receive the notice that Dana no longer wished to do any business with Rex Forge. Without the Dana contract, which represents the sole business for Rex Forge, the company cannot continue on and will be shutting down its operations permanently."

The two companies have a hostile and litigious history with claims and counterclaims of wrongdoing.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
