New York City, New York-based Bloomberg, an influential financial, software, data, and media company, has announced a reduction in force in the research and editorial fubctions in Bloomberg Media. An estimated 90 employees company-wide are being targeted for layoffs.
The decision was said to be driven by efforts to restructure content generation processes with an emphasis on enhanced fact -checking and editing.
According to a company spokesperson, “For the most part, we will stick to the principle of one story, one editor. No more unnecessary back-reading or re-editing. Yes, of course there will be more complicated pieces that require senior managers to be involved, but those are the exceptions. We either trust an editor to handle a story, or we don't. If we don't like the end result, we give the editor candid feedback.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
