Pasadena, California-based Inter-Con Security Systems, a privately-owned security guard contractor, has filed a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice with the State of California’s Employment Development Department that they will be laying off 699 unionized security guards statewide, including 495 in the Sacramento, California region. The layoffs are related to the loss of a California Highway Patrol contract to provide unarmed uniformed officers in various State of California buildings. The layoffs will be effective November 13, 2019.
Operating in 20 countries on four continents, the company is one of largest private security providers with 35,000 employees servicing individual, commercial, industrial, and government accounts.
Like all companies dependent upon contracts, fluctuations in staffing are to be expected.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
