AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT TREEHOUSE ONLINE CODING SCHOOL

Am I Next? Treehouse online coding school lays off almost entire staff.

Portland, Oregon-based Treehouse, an online coding education company, has announced that it plans to lay off most of its staff by the end of September. Approximately 45 out of 50 employees were impacted.

The company has exited its Oregon headquarters and the CEO, Ryan Carson, who recently moved to Essex, Connecticut, commented, “Treehouse is no longer based in Portland and that its remaining staff now works remotely. We are going to continue to serve our students and customers.” Apparently those students will be supported by Ryan and a small staff of remote workers.

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT AUTO/MATE, DEALER SOCKET

Am I Next? Auto/Mate, Dealer Socket layoffs after acquisition.

Albany, New York-based Auto/Mate,a division of Irving, Texas-based DealerSocket, and a provider of technology solutions for auto dealers including customer relationship management systems, dealer management systems, inventory management, websites and digital retailing, has announced that it laid off approximately 200 employees across the company.

It appears that the layoffs are a normal and customary business action after mergers and acquisitions. The layoffs come weeks after Westlake, Texas-based Solera Holdings acquired DealerSocket in 2021 who, in turn purchased Auto/Mate in 2020. The acquisition strengthens and broadens DealerSocket's offerings in the automotive space.

Additionally, according to parent company Solera, other layoffs will take place at the company's other recent acquisitions, Omnitracs and DealerSocket, as part of an overall post-aquisition restructuring.

The layoffs were said to have occured in department meetings without warning. Those employees who were not immediately laid off were allegedly give a 90-day window so they could help in a “transition of knowledge” to Omnitracs and DealerSocket sites in India.
