AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CHIP GANASSI RACING

Am I Next? Chip Ganassi Racing to leave NASCAR competition.

Concord, North Carolina-based Chip Ganassi Racing, a motorsports company fielding professional racing teams, has announced that the company would cease its NASCAR activities after the end of the current 2021 Cup Season on November 7, 2021, and transfer all of its NASCAR assets to a competitor, Nashville, Tennessee-based Marks' Trackhouse Racing.

The company's 22-acre headquarters property in Concord, North Carolina was sold to a subsidiary of the Hendrick Automotive Group in Charlotte, North Carolina for $10.2 million. Trackhouse is expected to lease the building from Hendrick to continue racing a two-car NASCAR team.

The closure will impact 55 employees with layoffs scheduled for November 7, 2021.

Chip Ganassi Racing will continue fielding a racing team to compete in the NTT DATA INDYCAR SERIES, IMSA, and Extreme E, using their Indianapolis, Indiana racing facility.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. AM I NEXT? VACCINE USE AS A BUSINESS DECISION

Am I Next? Vaccine decision-making.

We are seeing significant pressure on individuals and organizations to conform to the political dictates of the day.

Some organizations are threatening to fire or otherwise penalize individuals who do not have proof of vaccination.

The constitutionality of a government mandate or the legality of any organization demanding you place your life in jeopardy from medication side effects as a condition of employment is questionable. Especially when the medicine has a conditional or emergency use government permit.

While the scientific evidence of efficiency and efficacy may be contradictory, there is a prudent path for individuals. Discuss the matter with your personal physician who knows your condition, medications, and can consider the side effects and make an informed recommendation.

It is your life. The risk you are willing to assume is the key to decision-making. Much like accepting the risk of crossing a street, driving, or flying. If you are in a high-risk cohort, the decision becomes easier as your choices are well-defined.

Disease rates are meaningless as they vary with the number of tests administered and how the statistics are massaged. Hospitalizations and death rates are interesting, but unless they are stratified by age and condition, they may not be informative.

Vaccine Efficacy is how the vaccine behaves in controlled trials and is the percentage reduction of a disease in a group of individuals

Vaccine Effectiveness is how the vaccine behaves in the real world where factors beyond those found in controlled trials such as underlying chronic illness, age, other medications taken, storage of vaccines, and more can alter the effectiveness in widespread uncontrolled usage.

Wishing you good health, the primary key to fully enjoying life.

AM I NEXT? IS THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL AT SUTTER HEALTH?

Am I Next? Sutter Health CEO to retire, nationwide search for replacement.

Sacramento, California-based Sutter Health, a not-for-profit integrated health delivery operating 24 acute care hospitals and over 200 clinics in Northern California, has announced the retirement of its CEO, Sarah Krevans, in early 2022. Sutter's Board of Directors has launched a nationwide CEO search to replace Krevans.

Sutter is not without issues, including a two-year operational loss attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as other issues involving worker disputes, labor actions, and a number of multi-million-dollar settlements with the federal government over alleged fraud and anti-kickback law violations.

As with most senior leadership changes, the handwriting is on the wall as the new executive uses their "honeymoon" period to implement strategic reviews, restructuring, and, of course, consolidations and major reductions in the labor force.

It is time to evaluate your department’s revenue, staffing, and costs -- mindful of further automation, outsourcing, and centralization to reduce duplicative services.
