Am I Next? Downturn equals layoffs at Daktronics.

Brookings, South Dakota-based Daktronics, a maker of large video and LED display and messaging displays, has announced that it will be reducing its headcount in anticipation of a continuing market downturn associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Approximately 100 employees will be impacted by the layoffs.

According to a company spokesperson, "We now foresee a more prolonged downturn and we felt a longer-term solution was necessary."

"During the first quarter of fiscal 2021, our customers reduced their spending on audio-visual systems as they worked through the economic and business implications of COVID-19. We took corresponding action to reduce our operating expenses to align with expected order and sales declines. We regret the impact this has on them and their families."
