Shocked employees arrive at Farmington, Connecticut-based Ultimate Nutrition, a maker of protein and other performance supplement, only to find the company shuttered and apparently out of business.
A notice on the door informed all employers that they had been laid off as of August 17, 2019 and instructed to wait for further information which would be mailed to their mailing address. The company requested that all company property be mailed back to the company and wished the employees well saying, “We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.” Personal property locked in the premises could not be retrieved. No other information was provided.
It is estimated that as many as 200 employees could be affected. It is unclear how Prostar, Inc (same address, same owner, same type of business) is involved, but it is believed that both companies may have jointly owned and operated the facilities. The company has a litigious history involving numerous patent and trademark claims.
