Rancho Cucamonga, California-based Golden Island Jerky Company, a Asian-inspired jerky snack foods manufacturer owned by Tyson Foods, has announced that they will be closing their Cucamonga facility and permanently eliminating 371 workers.
The decision was driven by the company’s sale by Tyson to Minong, Wisconsin-based Jack Link’s Protein Snacks. Production will be transferred to one of Jack Link’s four facilities located in the United States. A Golden Island spokesperson noted, “The decision to sell the business was a very difficult one. It’s important to know it was based on a combination of factors including our ability to generate profitable growth in the business and our need to focus on, and invest in, strategic growth priorities where we have a competitive advantage.” According to a company spokesman for Jack’s Links, the company will keep the Golden Island brand and is “committed to providing high-quality, great-tasting protein snacks, but will keep our proprietary process close to our chest.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
