Chandler, Arizona-based Microchip Technology, a manufacturer of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP chips, has announced that the company is laying off up to 275 employees at its Colorado Springs, Colorado facility. The layoffs scheduled for the first quarter of 2020. The exact number of employees impacted will be affected by voluntary resignations and transfers.
According to a company spokesperson, the products produced at the facility “have experienced some long-term decline and many of the products produced at the facility will be transferred to the company’s other facilities in Arizona and Oregon. These transfers will transform this facility into a specialty or boutique fab focusing on manufacturing automotive, military and aerospace products. This transformation provides a long-term runway for the facility to be successful for years to come. ”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
