London, England-based Deloitte, one of the largest accounting and consultancy service networks in the world, has announced a major reduction in force which may impact 5,000+ employees in the United States. It is unknown if all of Deloitte's divisions, audit, consulting, advisory, and tax, will be affected, but it is thought that consulting and advisory divisions may take the hardest hit as a “severe and prolonged” impact is expected to Fiscal Year 2022.
According to a company spokesperson, "in connection with our annual fiscal year-end financial planning and performance management processes, we are aligning our resources with our clients' evolving needs. Demand for our services continues to be strong and we are doing all that we can to minimize the impact on our people in this unprecedented environment.”
Look for additional employee impacts from increased hours and decreased assignments. Some suggest that this right-sizing is a result of over-hiring and keeping individuals "with connections" on the payroll.
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
