Am I Next? Dana closes plant in Albio, Indiana

Toledo, Ohio-based Dana Inc., a manufacturer of automotive drive train components and axles, has announced the closure of its Dana Light Axle Products service parts and export packaging center located in Albion, Indiana. The closure will impact all 43 full-time and 30 temporary employees beginning on April 30, 2021 and completed by May 31, 2021.

According to a company spokesperson, "The decision to close the Albion plant was difficult but ultimately necessary in order to maximize Dana's ability to be competitive within difficult market conditions."

In addition to the Albion closure, the company will also lay off 75 workers at the company's axle plant in Syracuse, Indiana commencing in May.

The Syracuse decision was driven by a DaimlerChrysler decision to produce axle components internally.

Both work actions are part of a major restructuring plan involving plant closures and consolidations to adjust capacity to demand and better position the company during financially difficult times.

"Two years ago it began eliminating 11,000 jobs through plant closings and consolidations. Those reductions came on top of about 10,000 job cuts because of declining auto production and slow U.S. sales."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening.
