AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT DENNIS UNIFORM (10/24/24)

OCTOBER 24, 2024 - GAME OVER — ALL EMPLOYEES LAID OFF

The company has announced it's shutting down its Portland operations and closing all sites nationwide.

According to interim CEO Lawrence Perkins, “We will be closing all sites throughout the country and laying all employees. Our company has been working diligently to secure additional funding. Unfortunately, despite our material efforts to do so, we were unsuccessful in securing the necessary resources, making the layoffs unavoidable at this time."

SEPTEMBER 28, 2022 - Original post…

Portland, Oregon-based Dennis Uniform, a major supplier of school uniforms, has announced its intention to relocate its decoration and warehousing operations from Portland, Oregon, to a more centralized location in Texas.

The relocation will impact 71 mostly unionized employees, including 32 warehouse workers, 15 logo production workers, 15 embroidery clipping workers, and 9 screening workers. Layoffs are scheduled for November 1, 2022. Dennis is still maintaining some production in Portland, Oregon, including work done by its cut-and-sew custom sizing experts.

A company statement notes, "Dennis Uniform is excited to announce the move of their main warehouse and shipping facilities from the Central Eastside Industrial Area of Portland to Fort Worth, Texas, a location carefully selected after more than two years of research and analysis alongside the expertise of an outside consulting team."

"Scheduled to begin this November, this move will help the company continue to increase its service to Dennis customers, who are mostly situated outside the Pacific Northwest, as well as to Dennis’ 40+ retail locations across the country. Relocating shipping operations to the geographical center of their customer base will allow for more efficient operations, faster shipping timelines, and additional focus on customer care."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
