AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT GEHA

Lee's Summit, Missouri-based GEHA (Government Employees Health Association), a self-insured, not-for-profit association providing medical and dental plans to federal employees and retirees and their families through the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program and the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, has announced a major reduction in force in their Lee's Summit headquarters as the company outsources some operations to Washington, D.C.-based United Medical Resources, a third-party administrator.

The outsourcing effort will impact 453 employees.

According to a company statement, "GEHA has made a strategic business decision to modernize its business model and its member-facing technologies to industry-leading standards by contracting with United Medical Resources to provide customized third-party administrator services. Implementation efforts began at the end of 2023, with operations transitioning to UMR from January 2025."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
