Sacramento, California-based WellSpace Health, a regional low-income community health care provider, has announced a restructuring effort that will see the closure of several services and a 14% reduction in the enterprise workforce.
The reduction in force will impact 135 employees.
According to WellSpace CEO Jonathan Porteus, “In recent years, reimbursement has not kept pace with inflation and, in many cases, reimbursements have been delayed or not received at all.” the letter said. “Therefore, it is critical that we align our services with the funding that sustains them. This was not an easy or quick decision, but it was one I have made for the good of our patients and the future of our mission. Through these measures, we are protecting and stabilizing our organizational finances so we have the capacity to carry our mission forward on solid financial ground.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
